Mammillary nuclei (part of mammillary bodies)

The mammillary nuclei are a group of cells located ventromedially in the posterior hypothalamus. They are among the most prominent nuclei in the mammillary body. The medial and lateral mammillary nuclei are separated by the fornix. These nuclei are an important component of the behavior control column of the subcortical motor system.
