Epidural space
The spinal epidural space is located in the spinal canal between the dura mater and the vertebral column. It extends from the foramen magnum to the sacral canal at S2/3. It is typically 4-6 mm in depth. The space mostly contains areolar connective tissue, epidural ligaments, semi-liquid fat, internal vertebral venous plexus, lymphatics, arteries, and spinal nerve roots. Clinically, this space is important for the delivery of medicine and steroid drugs.
