Superior cistern

The superior or quadrigeminal cistern is a space located between the splenium of the corpus callosum and the superior surface of the cerebellum that is filled with cerebrospinal fluid. It extends from the third ventricle to the great cerebral vein. The pineal gland, superior and inferior colliculus form the floor of the superior cistern. It also contains several vessels and nerves, including the posterior cerebral arteries, posterior choroidal arteries, superior cerebellar arteries, trochlear nerve, vein of Galen, inferior sagittal sinus, and straight sinus.
