Inferior cerebellar peduncle
The inferior cerebellar peduncle consists of primarily afferent fibers (dorsal spino-cerebellar, cuneo-cerebellar, vestibulo-cerebellar, olivo-cerebellar, and reticulo-cerebellar) but also some efferent fibers (cerebello-vestibular and cerebello-reticular). The dorsal spino-cerebellar tract arises from the ipsilateral Clarke’s column in the spinal cord. The cuneo-cerebellar tract arises from the ipsilateral accessory cuneate nucleus. The olivo-cerebellar tract makes up the largest component of the inferior cerebellar peduncle, originating from the contralateral inferior olive. Finally, the vestibulo-cerebellar tract arises from the vestibular ganglion and nuclei. Together, these pathways help us answer the question: “Where am I?”
