Lok in lokpa refers to a robe that is widely worn both in agricultural and nomadic areas across Tibet. Livestock is skinned, the hair or fleece is scraped off, the hide is tanned, and then is ready to use. The difference between other skin related robes and this one is that no additional material is used for making this type robe. The robe keeps one warm in winter, but it is also worn in other seasons. The loktö or lokpé töla mentioned here is made of hide and it is similar to lokpa, but it is shorter - it is only for the upper part of the body and is only worn at the end of autumn or in winter. Compare to lokpa, these are easy to carry around and are comfortable to wear.
