The Receptive Egophoric Past Tense Auxiliary བྱུང་

The “receptive” auxiliary བྱུང་ is used only in the past tense. This auxiliary is associated with the first-person pronoun, whether this be the subject (“I”), the object (“me”), the indirect (“to me”), or an adverbial (“at my place,” etc.).

  • ང་ན་བྱུང་། “I fell ill.”
  • ཁོང་ང་ལ་ཁ་པར་བཏང་བྱུང་། “He phoned me.”
