In this case the nominalizer depends on the tense-aspect. For the present, the future, and the imperfective past, the nominalizer མཁན་ is used, whereas for the perfective, it is the form པ་ that is used.

• ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་ལ་འགྲོ་མཁན་གྱི་དགེ་རྒན་དེ་སུ་རེད། “Who is the teacher who is going abroad?”
• ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་ལ་ཕྱིན་པའི་དགེ་རྒན་དེ་སུ་རེད། “Who is the teacher who went abroad?”
• དེ་དུས་ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་ལ་འགྲོ་མཁན་གྱི་དགེ་རྒན་དེ་སུ་རེད། “Who is the teacher who went abroad at that time?”
• དེ་ཚོ་བོད་ནས་ཐོན་པའི་ས་གདན་རེད། “Those are carpets that have been produced in Tibet.” (Literally: “...carpets that have come out of Tibet.)
• ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་ལ་འགྲོ་རྒྱུའི་དགེ་རྒན་དེ་སུ་རེད། “Who is the teacher who will be going to Tibet?”
