Insinuation
The Bhutanese oral culture uses verbal expression which provide suggestions, advice, criticism, approbation, etc. in an indirect manner by using similes, metaphors or rhetorical speech. Such insinuations are particularly common in the expression of love as Bhutanese do not express lovely openly and directly. Sarcasm is also expressed through unfriendly insinuation. The traditional Bhutanese elders are adept at the art of indirect diplomatic speech full of insinuation.
