Beside the folk poetic compositions of lozey ballads, tsangmo poems, songs, proverbs, etc. Bhutan has a tradition of writing poems, particularly among the educated elites. Some of the poems composed in traditional Bhutan were memoirs and records of people's musings. Bhutanese elder often recorded their personal thoughts, opinions and experiences in the form of poetic verses and proses.
