Appliqué

The art of applique production is mostly used in creating the gaint religious wall hangings called thongdrol by expert applique artists. Silk is cut according the requirements of the drawing and sewn to create iconographical figures and motifs on these enormous wall hangings which are normally displayed on tall temples during festivals. The other artefacts created through applique are decorative table covers, throne covers, banners and wall hangings in the temples.
