Hide Glue

Bhutanese used glue for various purposes and the most common glue for sticking things was made from cattle hide. The most common hide used for making glue is that of a cattle. The skin of a dead cattle is boiled in a couldron, usually in an open space, for many hours until the hide has turned into soft spongy stock. Once the glue is ready, it is dried and preserved as pellets. Such glue is frequently mixed with ink for writing books and with paints for producing wall paintings or hangings.
