Tooth Artifact

Animal teeth, particularly the canine teeth of wild animals such as tigers and boars, are used as parts of ornaments and amulets. Little babies would often wear a bunch of blessed cords on which animal teeth and fangs are strung sometimes. Sharp animal teeth are also used for purpose of sewing and piercing. Elephant tusks are popularly found in Bhutan. They are often kept in temples as a part of the religious offerings. They are hoisted in front of the altar using wooden bases which are specficially made for them. Tusks are also popularly used for making small cups for alcohol and tea. They are also used for making very intricate sculptures of deities and lamas. They are also used to make bracelets and other ornaments.
