The Dhimal are an ethnic group of southern Nepal who speak a Tibeto-Burman language of the same name. According to the 2001 census of Nepal, 17,308 people speak Dhimal as a mother tongue and there are 19,537 ethnic Dhimal. (Mark Turin – June 01, 2004)
