Sacred Mountain Narrative
Some mountains in Bhutan are described as sacred mountains or lhari. Like the holy mountains in Tibet such as Kailash and Shelri, there are mountains in Bhutan which are believed to be very powerful in positive energy. Such mountains often have many hermitages and temple establishments and attracts a lot of pilgrims. The mountains are considered sacred because they are abodes of sacred deities and gods or because they are associated with a prominent spiritual person in the past. The sacred mountains also have a powerful geographical presence. There are also rituals associated with the belief and worship of the sacred mountains.
