Gon Zhey

Goen zhey is said to have originated in the songs performed as a praise when Zhabdrung arrived at Gasa from Tibet over the Wakeyla pass. It is an elegant dance considered to be the mother of all zhey dances. Goen zhey has 25 chapters and require 21 dancers. Dancers wear red woolen gho and black jacket like pazap warriors with a yellow cloth on their head. The zheypon or dance master wears an ornate head-dress. The dance takes two days to complete.
