The Bhutanese Vajrayāna tradition employs a wide range of techniques and methods to pacify the world and lead the sentient beings on the path to enlightenment. When the sentient beings are considered unruly and inresponsive to the peaceful teachings, tantric Buddhism uses expedient forces to stop the evil beings from committing negative actions and harming others. The ritual of suppression subjugates the malevolent spirits and suppresses them. The chief evil forces, however, is often identified as the ego and one's ego along with the negative it gives rise to is symbolically suppressed or pulverized through such ritual.
