Water Ritual
Giving is an important practice in Mahāyāna tradition of Buddhism and the first thing a Bodhisattva has to perfect. Giving can be practised by just offering clean water to the deities and sentient beings for both bathing and drinking. In the chutor ritual, the priests invites the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for a sessing of bathing and also offer clean drinking water. Then, the priest sprinkles water while chanting some mantras and verses to feed water to the hungry ghosts and other sentient beings. One visualizes that the beings who were suffering from thirst have fully quenched their thirst due to this ritual of giving.
