Well-being
Bhutanese Buddhists chant many sūtras and mantras as rituals for wellbeing. When someone falls ill, has an accident, encounters a misfortune, or face other such situations, rituals for wellbeing are conducted. The family may sponsor a group of priests to chant sūtras and mantras such the Heart Sūtra and the Longevity Mantra to overcome the problems. While most people sponsor monks and priests for a session, day or a week to chant the prayers and mantras, others undertake the rituals themselves. Many people approach a monastery to make a donation towards such chanting, which the monks carry out as part of their daily practice.
