The Thangmi (Thami) are an ethnic group of Nepal who speak a Tibeto-Burman language of the same name. According to the 2001 census of Nepal, 18,991 people speak Thangmi as a mother tongue and there are 22,999 ethnic Thangmi. (Mark Turin – June 01, 2004)
