The three external mantric vehicles and the three internal mantric vehicles are classified as the "resultant vehicles" ('bras bu'i theg pa; Skt. phala-yāna) of Buddhist tantra or Vajrayāna. This contrasts to the first three vehicles known as the "causal vehicles" of exoteric Buddhism.
