Exceptional education courses ensure that all learners are educated in ways that address their individual needs. Exceptional education programs focus on students who fall outside the normal range of development. This includes students covered under the “Individuals with Disabilities Act” as well as students who perform above grade-level. In an effort to destigmatize learning differences, exceptional education programs combine and rename what were previously termed “special education” programs and “gifted and talented” programs.
