Brainstem structure that connects the third and fourth ventricles. It is located in the midbrain, surrounded by periaqueductal grey. Anteriorly lies the tegmentum and posteriorly the tectum of the midbrain. The mesencephalic duct is filled with CSF, so obstruction causes hydrocephalus.
