Dorsomedial hypothalamic nucleus
The dorsomedial hypothalamic nucleus comprises of a group of cells located dorsally to the ventromedial nucleus and ventrally to the caudal part of the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. The nucleus receives input from the suprachiasmatic nucleus to regulate circadian rhythm. It also regulates sleep and plays an important role in regulating neuroendocrine/autonomic circuits with high concentrations of neuropeptide-Y containing cells. It also regulates feeding behavior through connections to the arcuate nucleus and leptin-containing neurons.
