The arcuate nucleus contains neurons that controls endocrine functions of the adenohypophysis, including the release of growth hormone, adrenocorticotropic releasing hormone, thyrotropin, gonadotropins, and prolactin. The nucleus is further regulated by glucose, insulin, and leptin. This helps neurons within the nucleus to determine whether the body has sufficient nutrients to regulate feeding.
