The secondary auditory cortex is the part of the cortex that receives input from the primary auditory cortex. It is on the surface of the temporal lobe and surrounds the primary auditory cortex. The secondary auditory cortex includes Wernicke’s area for the processing of language. The secondary auditory cortex processes sounds and functions in the localization of sound as well as language.
